Summer is well and truly upon us and most of us will be getting ready for our Summer holidays. I go to Egypt on the 30th June for 2 weeks and i'm so frickin' excited, it's unbelievable. As I go in just over two weeks i've started giving some thought to what I will be taking with me.
I spend a lot of my holiday by the pool or on the beach so the items I take with me, are essentials.
I don't tend to put makeup on during the day when I am on holiday, as it just melts off and I don't really see the point. However, if anyone suffers from bad skin and doesn't feel confident enough to not wear makeup, I can't recommend a BB Cream or Tinted Moisturiser enough. They give you a lovely light coverage, without looking like you've slapped a load of foundation on.
The only products I do wear during the day on holiday is a waterproof mascara, this one from Max Factor is amazing, it adds length and really thickens the lashes. It leaves them looking really natural and curled. I also wear a tinted lip balm, the Maybelline Baby Lips are great, they add a really subtle colour to your lips and keep them nice & hydrated throughout the day.
Sun protection is a must! There is nothing worse than getting all cocky, forgetting to apply suncream and laying out in the sun all day. Burnt skin is not a good look! I am speaking from experience here. Apply suncream on and off all day, about every two hours is the recommended amount. About an hour before you go into the sun and after you've been in the water.
My hair is a curly, frizzy mess on holiday so I always like to take a hydrating, soothing product with me. I apply it throughout my hair, concentrating on the ends and then shove it up into a plait or top knot. I very rarely wear my hair down during the day, on holiday, as I don't want the ends to become sun damaged.
I always take a pair of sunglasses down to the pool with me. There's nothing worse than trying to read a book and having to squint all over the damn place! I buy new sunglasses from Primark every year, they cost a couple of quid and do the job just as well as the more expensive kind. We'd all love a pair of Raybans in our life but you know..life's a bitch.
I read for England on holiday, I literally read a book a day, if not more. I've always been a fast reader but you just have so much time on holiday. You don't have to worry about the fact your house is a mess and you should really be doing the dishes instead of finishing 'just another chapter'. It takes me so long to decide which books to take on holiday, but i've finally managed to whittle it down to two. I also fully stock my kindle with free books from Amazon, ready for if I finish my physical books or just want to read something different.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my pool/beach essentials. What do you take with you? Are you going away this year?
